Friday 3rd August

Today we decided to go to Wawel Castle which is right next to the Market Square and Old Town. Market Square is smack bang in the centre of the city and the city is the Old Town which hasn't got any high rise buildings. We saw the guy playing the trumpet from the tower at St Mary's and ad Renata explained, there was a guy who did it every hour out of the corners of the tower and even through the war. He was eventually shot by the Germans which is why the trumpet plays stop, it's the moment the original trumpet player was shot and stopped. There's something for you to learn. See I'm also learning on this trip, it's not a relaxing holiday because otherwise I'd be on a beach somewhere sipping some bitch drink :)

We went to the castle and discovered that you need to buy tickets as soon as you walk in, to gain access to certain sections. The gardens are free as well as the Cathedral, but everything else isn't. Like its zł18 for the royal apartments then another zł18 for the state apartments and the others are about zł3, 4 and 7 each.

The worst thing is, you can't take photos. Somehow I did and one day didn't say anything even though I had flash on. However the apartments were absolutely beautiful. I wish I could have taken photos but there were staff everywhere. Almost like nazis. Too soon? The other thing is that you can't bring a backpack to some sections and there are certain numbers of people they can allow into sections at a time. So if you miss seeing one thing you'll have to go back hours later.

The reason I had the backpack with me was because I had my laptop spin could email my uni because the bastards have stuffed me over. I jus failed my last subject and they're now telling me I need to complete a few things to try and get a supplementary exam. But I'm also being told I have two subjects to complete in total which is just bullshit because I know I only need to do one more which is what I was told late last year. So we should see what happens.

As soon as I got my laptop out in the city centre though the rain came out of nowhere really. Justin and I had to make a made dash for it under cover near by as Renata got dumplings for dinner and desert. However Justin had Renata's phone but thank god she found us.

On the way back to the apartment though they decided it was best to buy a TV. So for the next 8 weeks these guys have got a small LCD to watch Polish TV with limited English. All Renata had been doing is translating to us what's on the tv.

Later I went out though to a few bars and had a fantastic time going through to bars which had great atmospheres and weird quirky things happening. It reminded me of the weird bars in Melbourne but a little better I think. The streets at night are extremely safe here, they're not busy and people are friendly enough too.

One bar I went to had all different chairs, from odd couches to cinema style chairs with games and books to chill out too. Next to it was a chilled bar, so chilled that one guy was just laying on the couch by himself almost asleep. Another had a closet and you walked through it to go into the next room, just weird things you don't always expect to see. However I did leave to go back home at 5am and honestly it's the first time I've ever gone home at night when the sins come up. And I got the bus home because it was actually running from that time.
